This album was released in 1972 by LaSalle-Quartet, a group founded in the U.S. in 1946 by Walter Levin, and they performed works by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. The works by these two French composers, who laid the foundations of contemporary music from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, are not old-fashioned at all, but fresh, resonant, and full of new insights. The LaSalle-Quartet is also very capable of giving us a fresh sound and a new awareness. Please give them a listen.
