Familiar to disco enthusiasts for her 1979 release Bad For Me, singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, active in New York, released her landmark debut album in 1974 through Japan's Trio Records. The album features contributions from American musicians, including her husband Cecil Bridgewater (trumpet, percussion), his brother Ron Bridgewater (tenor saxophone, percussion), Roland Hanna (piano, electric piano), and George Mraz (bass), along with Motohiko Hino (drums) from Japan. Highlights include a spiritual and groovy cover of Mongo Santamaria's classic on track A1 and a floating, urban-infused groove rendition of a Stylistics classic on track B4. This masterpiece, filled with profound spirituality, is a must-hear for rare groove and jazz groove fans alike. This is the 1978 reissue edition that was re-cutting.
