Dee Dee Bridgewater is an American female singer who made a splash when she came to Japan as a member of Thad Jones & Mel Leiws, released her debut album "Afro Blue" in Japan in 1974, and left many disco classics in the late 70s and 80s. Recorded live at The New-Morning in November 1986, the album features Herve Sellin (p), Andre Ceccarelli (ds), and Antoine Bonfils (b), and was released in 1987. This is her first full-fledged jazz vocal performance since "Afro Blue" 12 years ago. You can hear Dee Dee's punchy singing with a slightly withered tone in her voice.
