This is an album released in 1966 by the American saxophonist Dewey Redman, known for his collaborations with Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett's groups since the late 1960s. In the 1970s and 1980s, he formed the Old and New Dreams ensemble with Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell, leaving behind remarkable works on labels like ECM and Black Saint. This album features recordings made in the same year with a quartet comprising Jim Young on piano, Donald Garrett on bass and clarinet, and Eddy Moore on drums. The tracks include the enjoyable Afro-Caribbean jazz of A1, with calypso rhythms and Redman's scat-like hums, and the refreshing rhythm section with a Brazilian vibe in A2. Redman's spiritually charged performance is a masterpiece. This particular release is the 1974 Japanese pressing featuring artwork by Tadayuki Naito.
