German ethno-electro band Dissidenten were deeply inspired by the classical music traditions of the Middle East, Africa, and India, and produced a number of superb recordings in collaboration with local musicians during their travels. This 12-inch single features two tracks taken from their 1985 album Arab Shadows. Both sides are killer dancefloor cuts, driven by an impossibly tight, almost machine-like even kick beat, layered with richly Arab-flavored guitar, synthesizer, and vocals. “Bajka’s Gnaoui” on the B-side is featured here in a long version.
