A 1985 second album by Dissidenten, the ethno-electronic band formed by Friedo Josch, Uve Müllrich, and Marlon Klein, all of whom had been involved with the German jazz-rock group Embryo, known for its deep engagement with the classical and traditional musics of the Middle East, Africa, and India. Featuring Moroccan musicians on vocals, mandolin, and percussion, the sound is remarkably authentic—so deeply immersed in North African musical traditions that it is almost hard to believe this is a German group. A superb example of cross-cultural ethno music that goes far beyond superficial fusion.
