German ethno-electro band Dissidenten were deeply inspired by the classical music traditions of the Middle East, Africa, and India, and left behind a number of outstanding recordings made in collaboration with local musicians during their extensive travels. Released in 1987, this three-track 12-inch single features material from their 1986 album Life at the Pyramids, along with an unreleased track. Recorded in Casablanca, Morocco and Paris, the session features Moroccan musicians as well as former Embryo member Roman Bunka. Packed with the flavor of raï, the dance music of the North African communities that flourished in Paris during the 1980s, this is a floor-ready ethno-beat tune that still sounds remarkably fresh today.
