An album released in 1978 by Djamel Allam, an Algerian musician from Marseille, France. Numerous Algerian musicians participate, performing a variety of Arab ethnic instruments such as karkabou and darbuka. On B3, exotic ethnic grooves created by the interplay of traditional instruments are layered with Djamel Allam’s uniquely phrased vocals, producing an entrancing atmosphere. B4 begins with relaxed percussion and gypsy-flavored guitar, gradually building in intensity and leading into a psychedelic soundscape. A hidden gem of ethnic groove with the power to transform the entire sonic space—highly recommended.
