A quartet album by South African jazz pianist/composer Dollar Brand, active since the 1960s and the author of many African-themed masterpieces, released in 1979 on the German label Enja, featuring Talib Qadr (ss,as,vo), Greg Brown (b) and John Betsch (ds). The album is full of the best performances, from free jazz with its Islamic atmosphere of pentatonic melody to Brand's moving piano solo, but the highlight is the spiritual Afro-jazz A3, featuring Talib Qadr's vocals and incorporating elements of South African folk music. Highlight is A3. Highly recommended. Original German pressing.
