Singing for the People
Obey (Nigeria) 1983

sleeve : EX(very slight dirt)
media : EX-/EX-(slight white noise in places due to thin, fine scratches, B:slightly off-center)

An album released in 1983 by Ebenezer Obey, one of Nigeria's leading singers active since the 1960s, and his group His Inter-Reformers Band. In this work, they present bright and cheerful Juju music that evokes the hot sun, with Afrobeat rhythms echoing fellow legend Fela Kuti, combined with tropical and colorful sounds. The crisp African percussion and talking drum's pleasant bass, flowing guitar, and warm chorus are superb. The fact that all tracks are played non-stop is one of the characteristics of Juju, probably intended for playing in bars and clubs.
