An album released in 1983 by Ebenezer Obey, one of Nigeria’s leading singers, who has been active since the 1960s, together with his group His Inter-Reformers Band. On this work, they present bright and cheerful juju music that evokes the blazing heat of the sun, with Afrobeat-like rhythms echoing fellow Nigerian legend Fela Kuti, blended with a tropical and colorful sound. The crisp African percussion, the pleasantly deep tones of the talking drum, flowing guitars, and warm chorus work are all superb. The fact that all the tracks are performed nonstop can also be considered one of the distinctive features of juju music, perhaps with the idea of being played in bars and clubs in mind.
