A true masterpiece released in 1987 by Mexican guitarist Eblen Macari, whose entire body of work is exceptional — including the electronic ambient piece Cartas De Navegacion (1989) with Jose Luis Almeida, the acid-folk album Trayectos (1983) with Juan Valdes, and his neo-folkish solo effort Glaciares (1984). This album brings together key figures from the Mexican music scene, such as long-time collaborator Jose Luis Almeida; Grupo La Tribu, who produced many classic albums from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s; Artura Meza, known for his psychedelic/progressive folk-rock masterpiece; and percussionist German Herrera, who also worked on Gerardo Batiz's projects. The result is an experimental yet organic sonic world — a melancholic guitar sound reminiscent of Suso Saiz, blended with ethnically rich percussive textures that recall Jorge Reyes and Antonio Zepeda, and ambient/new age-flavored synthesizer soundscapes. Truly a unique sound. Absolutely phenomenal. Highly, highly recommended.
Please note: There is an off-center pressing on Side A, which causes slightly distortion in the spund. Please be aware of this before purchasing. This appears to be a consistent issue across all Dakta pressings, not just this particular copy. Side B plays without issue.
