A 1970 album by French organist Eddie Louiss, who began his career in the early 1960s and performed with numerous musicians including Kenny Clarke, Phil Woods, and Stéphane Grappelli. Recorded as a trio with John Surman (baritone & soprano saxophones) and Daniel Humair (drums), the album features material captured at Nippon Columbia's studio in Asakusa during their visit to Japan in August of that year for the European Down Beat Poll Winners tour. Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen makes a guest appearance on track A2 only. Jazz critic Shoichi Yui is credited as supervisor of the recording. The album includes four outstanding tracks, highlighted by the title track A1, which is themed around the Japanese concept of "wabi-sabi," and A2, an arrangement of traditional music from Martinique. Throughout, Louiss’s psychedelic Hammond organ blends perfectly with melodic leads and aggressive drums in a striking ensemble. Highly recommended. Original French pressing.

A1: Our Kind of Sabi
B1: Song for Martine
B2: Out of the Sorcellery
