Released in 1986 on MCA’s audiophile-oriented MCA Master Series — the same series that issued Giles Reaves’ Nothing is Lost, also featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION — this is a leader album by contrabassist Edgar Meyer. After working as a session musician in Nashville, Meyer went on to perform with various chamber music groups and has also been active as a composer in the classical field. True to that background, this album presents a distinctive instrumental sound that blends country/folk, jazz, and chamber music in a way rarely heard elsewhere. Highly recommended for listeners who enjoy ECM-style jazz. Definitely worth checking out.
