Needless to say, this is a masterpiece from the genius Brazilian artist Egberto Gismonti, originally released in 1978. Dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, the album opens with a simple bossa number carried by Gismonti’s rustic, unaffected vocal, then unfolds into a deeply spiritual and mysterious set from start to finish. Standouts include A2, with its beautifully propulsive percussion-led rhythm and the soothing tone of Indian flute, and B3, where ethnic guitar phrases resonate with real depth. A stunning work filled with an otherworldly atmosphere throughout. Original Brazilian pressing.
