El Ultimo de la Fila
Como la Cabeza Al Sombrero
PDI (France) 1988

sleeve : EX-(light collapse on one corner.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly noise caused by some slightly hairlines.)

The 4th album, released in 1988, by El Último de la Fila, a Spanish pop duo consisting of Manolo García and Quimi Portet, both former members of Los Papidos and Los Burros. Though their image might bring to mind a “Catalonian version of Wham!”, the music tells a different story — a blend of crisp vocals, acoustic guitars, and synthesizers creating a clean, understated sound reminiscent of Morrissey’s The Smiths and the UK neo-acoustic scene. The pensive guitar lines and groovy organ textures on A5 are especially pleasing, while B2, with its clean-toned guitars evoking The Durutti Column and touches of country rock, carries a distinct sense of Catalonian nostalgia that’s truly charming.

A5: A Veces Se Enciende
B2: Ya No Danzo Al Son De Los Tambores
