This album was released in 1981 and is a compilation of past recordings by Eric Dolphy, an American reed player who has been active at the forefront of jazz since the late 1940s and is known as a pioneer in using the bass clarinet as a lead instrument in jazz. Recorded at The Swedish Broadcast Station in Stockholm, Sweden in 1961, the composition of each piece differs, but in addition to Jimmy Woode (b), Sture Kallin (ds), Knud Jorgensen (p), and Rune Ofwerman (p), the album also features the bass clarinet of Eric Dolphy, Rune Ofwerman (p), and Idrees Sulieman (tp). B1/B3, where you can hear Dolphy's very lyrical flute playing, is just the best.
