This album was released in 1974 by Esther Phillips, an American singer from Texas who was influenced by soul singers like Aretha Franklin and began her singing career at the age of 14. She got her debut opportunity by participating in an amateur contest at a club owned by Johnny Otis in 1949. The album was released on Creed Taylor's Kudu label. It features backing from many renowned musicians including Pepper Adams (bass), Hubert Laws (flute), Bob James (piano), Richard Tee (piano), and Ralph McDonald (percussion), who provide excellent accompaniment to Phillips' soulful and captivating voice throughout the album. It's a remarkable record showcasing Phillips' lustrous and gritty soulful vocals. Tracks like the blues-infused A1 and the danceable soul groove of B1 are particularly recommended.
A1: I Feel The Same
B1: Disposable Society
