First Avenue, a unit formed by Denney Goodhew, Eric Jensen, and James Knapp, released their only album on ECM in 1981. The album features a deep ambient jazz A1/B1 with a wonderful atmospheric sound, in which trumpet and saxophone overlay floating, long-toned phrases over the drone of cello, as well as total conceptual and experimental jazz with a very contemporary flavor. It could have been released on ECM's New Series, but the fact that ECM releases it on their main label is what makes it so amazing. I highly recommend this album to contemporary music/ambient listeners.
