Released in 2004, this 12-inch single couples tracks by Flying Rhythms — the unit of drummer Yoshio Kuge, African percussionist Latyr Sy, and dub engineer Naoyuki Uchida — with Blast Head, the duo of DJ Hikaru and Tesu. Side A by Flying Rhythms is a nearly 14-minute long track driven by dub-processed live drumming in a four-beat pulse, with African percussion rushing forward at full force. Side B by Blast Head also unfolds through deep dub treatments, creating a trippy track immersed in a dense, spacious sonic field. A record that perfectly captures the spirit of Tokyo’s underground scene in the 2000s.
