This is a leader album released in 1977 by American saxophonist Frank Lowe, whose solo and leader works include participation on Don Cherry's "Ralativity Suite" and "Brown Rice" and Alice Coltrane's "World Galaxy," as well as a number of other electrifying works. The quartet with Lawrence "Butch" Morris (cornet), Didier Lavallet (b), and George Brown (ds) recorded a live performance at the historic Sainte Croix de Pelletier church in Rouen, France in 1976. The band's improvisational orientation, inherited and developed from Ornette Coleman's designs, is overwhelming, including A1, in which Lowe's tenor and Morris' cornet explode with a special staccato technique backed by an aggressive rhythm section.
