Since the 1970s, American composer Frank W. Becker had been based in Japan, leaving behind numerous synthesizer-based works on Toshiba, including Incantation (1979), co-created with flutist Michiko Akao, and The Four Seasons(1978), featuring performances of Antonio Vivaldi’s famous compositions. This album, his first, was privately released in 1977. It features studio recordings of three pieces composed between 1972 and 1976 and performed at various venues across Japan. Field recordings of ocean waves, birds, and insects were provided by Akio Suzuki. Throughout the record unfolds a deeply meditative electronic soundscape created mainly with Roland equipment—drones from sine waves, wave and waterfowl sounds generated by white and pink noise via an envelope generator, and textures shaped through sequencer-based sound design—resulting in a truly rare and mysterious work of electronic music.

Please note: both sides have light surface haze, causing faint surface noise throughout playback.
