This is an album released in 1970 by the American saxophonist Frank Wright. He began his career as a bassist in bands with artists like Rosco Gordon and B.B. King but switched to tenor saxophone after encountering Albert Ayler. He went on to collaborate with musicians like Larry Young, Noah Howard, and Sunny Murray, and also founded his own label, "Center of the World," where he produced notable albums. For this album, released as the 36th installment in France's prestigious BYG Actuel series, Frank Wright forms a quartet with Noah Howard (as), Bobby Few (p), and Muhammad Ali (ds). The album features an extensive 17-minute track, A1, which pays homage to John Coltrane and subtly echoes influences from "A Love Supreme." A2 and B1 are long sessions, each exceeding 25 minutes, with Bobby Few's scores inspired by China. In each track, the interplay between the participating musicians is remarkable, particularly the saxophone exchanges between Wright and Howard in A1 are mesmerizing. This is the original French pressing.

A1: One for John
