Friedrich Gulda
The Air from Other Planets
BASF MPS Records/Teichiku Records (Japan) 1973

sleeve : VG+(wear on corner, dirts.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)

A 1969 solo album by Austrian master composer/pianist Friedrich Gulda, whose work spans from classical to jazz. Don’t be fooled by the “solo acoustic piano” description—this record is absolutely extraordinary. As the title and sleeve artwork suggest, Gulda conjures up a super-galactic cosmic music with nothing but a grand piano. The organic melodies, cascading as if stardust were raining down, are breathtakingly beautiful. Rarely does one encounter a solo piano work so imaginative and rich in dramatic imagery. Very highly recommended. This is the first Japanese pressing, issued by Teichiku in 1973, a high-fidelity edition cut with the Neumann SX-74.
