This is the best album released in 1968 by Gabor Szabo, a Hungarian-born guitarist who immigrated to the United States to attend Berklee College of Music and was soon invited to perform at the Newport Jazz Festival. Three songs from the historic 1966 album "Spellbinder," including a classic that has been sampled as ethno house material, two songs from "Gypsy '66," released the same year with Gary McFarland Co. and two songs from "Jazz Raga" and "The Sorcerer" released in 1967. A full-length of psychedelic gypsy jazz that sublimates Latin, rock, and pop music through a jazz filter. Highly recommended.
