This album, released in 1984 by Brazilian songstress Gal Costa, who, together with Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Maria Bethania, sparked the Tropicália movement and became a darling of the era in the late 1960s. The album features a luxurious lineup of composers, including longtime acquaintances Caetano Veloso, Djavan, Moraes Moreira, Gonzaga Jr., and even Stevie Wonder. Reflecting the mid-1980s mainstream style, the album showcases a variety of musical styles, from rock/pop to samba-rock and ballads. Highlights include the mellow tropical groove with rich percussion and electric piano/synthesizer featured in track A5, and the delightfully groovy track B4, with its relaxed bass, delicate cutting guitar, and soft-touch electric piano. These mellifluous and nostalgic tracks are a hallmark of Gal’s music. Recommended.

A5: De Volta Ao Comeco
B4: Topazio
