This is an album released in 1974 by Gary Burton, an American vibraphone player who has been active since the early 1960s and has many excellent works on ECM. This work features scores by Michael Gibbs, who is known for his work in orchestral arrangements for progressive rock and hard rock. The quartet with Michael Goodrick (g), Steve Swallow (b), and Ted Seibs (ds), featuring the NDR Symphony Orchestra from Hamburg, Germany, performs grand and dramatic chamber orchestral jazz. Burton's vibraphone solos and quartet playing are also excellent.
