Released on ECM in 1978, this album as a leader is by vibraphonist Gary Burton. Recorded in New York, the quartet features Steve Swallow on bass, Roy Haynes on drums, and Tiger Okoshi on trumpet. Highlights include A3, where Okoshi’s soaring trumpet and Burton’s warm, slightly wet-toned vibraphone intertwine beautifully over the supple, swinging rhythm section, and B4, with its lightly flowing rhythm and melody carrying a subtle Oriental flavor. A fine album of urbane, smooth contemporary jazz, unfolding throughout with a gentle, rounded touch and none of the music’s edges ever becoming abrasive.
