Released in 1981, this album was recorded by bassist Gary Peacock with pianist Art Lande and drummer Eliot Zigmund. Peacock had immersed himself in the free-jazz movement of early-1960s New York, performing with musicians such as Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry, before later working extensively in the late 1970s with ECM-associated artists including Art Lande, Jack DeJohnette, and Keith Jarrett. A masterpiece of remarkable beauty and delicacy, the album creates a vivid acoustic space in which the three musicians layer their melodic lines as though painting a landscape in pale, subtle colors. The interplay between Lande’s piano and Peacock’s bass is especially captivating, with the two exchanging solos almost like an intimate conversation. US pressing.
