Gary Peacock
December Poems
ECM Records (US) 1979
ECM-1-1119 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(color-faded on side.)
media : EX-/EX-(some light surface noises.)
The album was released in 1979 by Gary Peacock, a jazz bassist who was involved in the free jazz movement in New York in the early 60's and played with Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry, and in the late 70's worked with ECM regulars such as Art Lande, Jack DeJohnette and Keith Jarrett. Jan Garbarek plays sax on two tracks, but the rest of the album is all bass solo. He plays riffs and solos at the same time, like a guitar player, and his performance is full of lyricism. The duo with Jan Garbarek is also the ultimate in deepness.
