A double album released in 1979 by Geinoh Yamashirogumi, a multi-performance community and experimental collective led by Shoji Yamashiro. Since the 1960s, the group has been active under the philosophy that exploring and verifying the lifestyle inherently promised in human DNA serves as a focal point for criticizing modern civilization. This live recording captures their 1978 performance at Suginami Public Hall in Tokyo. The album features selections from their previous works — Osorezan / Dō no Kenbai, Chi no Hibiki: Songs of Eastern Europe, Yamato Gensō, and Exultent Pisces In Cantics Nostris — showcasing Geinoh Yamashirogumi’s distinctive approach that blends Bulgarian folk songs, Balinese kecak from Indonesia, and other traditional music from across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, alongside their own original compositions. A powerful and captivating listen.
