This album was recorded in New York in March 1974, about five months before American saxophonist Gene Ammons passed away, and released in 1975. It features Gary Bartz(as), Kenny Drew(p), Nat Adderley(cornet), Sam Jones(b), Louis Hayes(ds), Ray Barretto(per). They emotionally performs songs by Duke Ellington, Duke Pearson, Julian Adderley, and others, as well as their own original compositions, and even Gilbert O'Sullivan's hits. Ammons, a pioneer of the Chicago School of higher expression on the tenor saxophone and founder of soul jazz, which combines elements of R&B and blues with bebop, recorded his last song, "Goodbye," composed by Gordon Jenkins and Benny Goodman's repertoire. It was the last performance of marks the end of Ammons' life.
