General Kollington Ayinla & His African Fuji Eaglets Arewa
Arewa
Kollington Records (Nigeria) 1988
KRLPS 037 (LP)
sleeve : EX(some very slightly dirts.)
media : VG+/VG+(some slightly noise caused by slightly hairlines. some light click noise caused by small pressing-error.)
A masterpiece album released on Kollington Ayinla’s own label, Kollington Records, by one of the leading figures of Fuji—the Nigerian dance music style that emerged in the 1970s alongside Ayinde Barrister. Featuring the bata drum, a hand percussion instrument traditionally used by the Yoruba people of western Nigeria in ritual and religious contexts, the album explodes with trippy synthesizer sounds and fiercely intense grooves—a definitive example of high-speed Fuji at its most powerful. Like Juju music represented by King Sunny Adé, the entire record unfolds in a nonstop flow. Highly recommended.
