An album released in 1975 by the American contemporary composer George Crumb, who dedicated many years to music education as a university professor. Known for his development of extended techniques and exploration of timbre, Crumb presents the first installment of his Makrokosmos series, which expresses the vast universe through two amplified pianos and percussion, as indicated by the subtitle Twelve Fantasy-Pieces after the Zodiac for Amplified Piano. The performance is by David Burge. As you listen to the piano melodies unfolding with various tonal effects and interwoven vocalizations, you may find your consciousness drifting into the depths of the cosmos.
