A Composition for Jazz Orchestra by George Russell
Vertical Form VI
Soul Note (Italy) 1981
SN 1019 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(SRW, SOC, TEOC, wear on corner.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noises.)

This is a 1981 album by American composer/pianist George Russell, who has been active since the 1950s and whose style ranges from solo to jazz orchestras. The album features the Sweden Radio Jazz Group, conducted by Carl Atkins, with participation from Carl Atkins himself on baritone saxophone and a total of 24 musicians, including Lennart Aberg. It's an orchestral jazz piece that also features percussionist Sabu Martinez. Composed of five movements, it unfolds like a dramatic world as if you were watching a movie, and Russell's strong sense of groove is evident throughout. Highly recommended.
