This is the first leader album by American pianist Geri Allen, who also played in groups with Oliver Lake, Dewey Redman, Steve Coleman, and David Murray, and was released in 1984 on the emerging German label Minor Music. She recorded this album with Andrew Cyrille (ds) as a special guest and Anthony Cox (b) as a trio. The album opens with body percussion-like beat, followed by A1, which features a pleasant piano playing light riffs backed by Cyrille's aggressive drumming, A3, which is a great interplay between Cox and Cyrille, and the title track B1. The title track, B1, is a hidden masterpiece with great free-form piano playing with a unique touch.
