The Lockenhaus Festival is a chamber music festival held in Lockenhaus, Austria, produced by Gidon Kremer. This is the third volume following Vol.1/Vol.2 released in 1985 and Vol.3 released in 1986. As in the previous albums, Gidon Kremer and ECM director Manfred Eicher have compiled a collection of recordings of performances by musicians who have participated in the festival over the past three years. The album features music by modern and contemporary composers and modern classical chamber music by ensembles (D2 is solo piano). The music has been remixed by Martin WIeland, who has done excellent engineering work on many ECM albums, and the sound is very beautiful. (Chee)
