Featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION. A 1986 big-band jazz album by legendary Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira, created under the direction of Canadian-born jazz pianist and arranger Gil Evans. The impressive lineup includes Alan Skidmore (ts), Philip Catherine (g), Trilok Gurtu (perc), and Marcos Silva (perc), with Silva also responsible for the orchestral arrangements. A truly unique and expansive work in which harmonically rich, elegant orchestral textures blend seamlessly with the primal energy of Brazilian music. The combination creates a grand and highly distinctive sound unlike anything else.
