Album released in 1985 by Milan-based pianist Giorgio Gaslini, a highly regarded leader of the Italian new jazz scene. The artwork has a very homely feel to it, but as the title suggests, it is a performance of a piece Gaslini composed for a concert he gave in Beijing, China, with a quartet featuring Claudio Allifranchini, Piero Leveratto and Paolo Pellegatti. The A-side, a 26-minute long suite, is a little less free jazz than on Gaslini's other works, with soft impressions such as the occasional oriental melody, and a spiritual jazz style that is similar to that of Don Cherry and Pharoah Sanders. A very good performance.
