Pianist Giorgio Gaslini, who led the Italian new jazz scene with his numerous masterpieces including the 1976 live recording "Murales," 1977's "Free Actions," and 1983's "Indian Suite," has performed with Jean-Luc Ponty, Steve Lacy, Harry Becket, Bruno Tommaso, Paul Rutherford, and others on this album released in 1976. The A-side and B1, titled "Manufacturing Capacity Utilization," are over 24 minutes in total, with a strange exchange of sounds and melodies that seem to be mostly free improvisations, except for the theme part, which has an oriental essence. B1 is a cool number with piano, percussion, and bass sounds floating in a tranquil space. The whole piece is quite a treat to listen to.
