Released in 1980, this album is by Globe Unity, an ensemble centered around pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach and bringing together fifteen free improvisers in total, including Steve Lacy, Albert Mangelsdorff, Kenny Wheeler, Manfred Schoof, Enrico Rava, Evan Parker, and Günter Christmann. The album contains seven compositions written by Wheeler, Schlippenbach, Christmann, Rava, Schoof, and Lacy. While carrying forward the traditions of jazz, the ensemble dismantles and reconstructs them through witty sensibilities and radical ideas. A crystallized masterpiece of European free jazz.
