Gunter Hampel, a German multi-instrumentalist who began his career in the early 1950s, leaving his mark on labels like ESP Disk in the 1960s and participating as a member during the European activities of Cecil Taylor and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, released this album in 1972 from his own label, Birth Records. This album, part of the "Jubilee Edition: 15 Years Gunter Hampel Group – (1958 - 1973) – Jubilaumsausgabe" series, features imaginative free improvisations by Gunter Hampel and his Galaxie Dream Band, which included nine musicians such as Jeanne Lee (vocals) and Perry Robinson (clarinet). The improvisations unfold at length, characterized by their spontaneity yet devoid of any sense of complexity, as they skillfully craft an exceptionally deep musical realm with nuanced dynamics. Joanne Lee's vocalization adds a touch of magic to the ensemble.
