This album was released in 1976 by Gyorgy Ligeti, a Hungarian-Australian composer known for his numerous experimental contemporary works and soundtracks for Stanley Kubrick films such as "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "The Shining". The album conatains four works composed between 1957 and 1972. The most notable of these are the two versions of "2 Etuden fur Orgel" and "Glissandi" on the B-side: "2 Etuden fur Orgel" on B1/B2 is music composed in 1967 and 1969 with organ drones and minimalist strumming. "Glissandi" is an early electronic music composed in 1957. Both reflect Ligeti's unique view of the universe and sound fresh and new, not at all old-fashioned, even today. Highly recommended.
