A 1981 trio album released on ECM, bringing together Charlie Haden (b), Jan Garbarek (sax), and Egberto Gismonti (g, p). Garbarek’s crystalline soprano saxophone, Gismonti’s delicate acoustic guitar, and Haden’s warm bass blend beautifully, creating a quiet, deeply atmospheric sound world that evokes the image of a dense Nordic forest. Every note seems to sink in slowly and resonate with remarkable depth. It is relatively unusual to hear Gismonti’s guitar sound this cool and restrained, yet his musical personality remains the strongest presence throughout the album. His humming voice on A1 is also a wonderful highlight. Original German pressing.
