An album by Haja Queen Salawa Abeni, a Nigerian Yoruba singer who was crowned the Queen of Waka Music after her 1st album released in 1976 became a million-seller. This work is likely from 1982-83. Following the traditional Yoruba waka music style, which is the root of Juju and Fuji, the album features simple yet extremely groovy percussion rhythms from talking drums, accompanied by vocals and chorus with unique Islamic-influenced inflections, all dancing with a pleasant reverb. The result is a wonderfully danceable sound. Like Juju and Fuji, all tracks are played non-stop. Highly recommended. There are many bubble-like pressing errors on the disc, but they do not significantly affect playback sound. Please be understanding as this is an African pressing.
