A three-track 12-inch single released in 1986 by cellist Hajime Mizoguchi, an artist whose work spans a wide spectrum from classical to pop. In recent years, amid the Japanese ambient/new-age revival, his back catalogue has also gained renewed popularity overseas. The two tracks on the A-side were originally composed as commercial theme songs. Both embody a strain of 1980s Japanese commercial modern music, combining a neo-classical chamber-music sensibility with minimalist electronics; yet the sound production is exceptionally refined, allowing the record to be heard today through a contemporary ambient/new-age lens.
