This is a 1972 album release featuring a composition by the highly acclaimed German composer Hans Werner Henze, who was regarded as one of the most talented composers in Germany alongside Karlheinz Stockhausen at a young age. The composition, "The Tedious Way To The Place Of Natascha Ungeheuer" embodies a blend of tradition and innovation, a characteristic found in many of Henze's works. The album features an impressive lineup of musicians, including the Gunter Hampel Free Jazz Ensemble with participants such as Tsutomu Yamashita, Willem Breuker, and Arjen Gorter, the Philip Jones Brass Quartet, and the organist Giuseppe Agostini. Henze's signature large ensemble, accompanied by operatic vocals from baritone singer William Pearson, delivers an exceptionally experimental performance. While occasionally featuring highly effective sounds, it's unclear whether real-time sound processing is employed. Voice effects seem to utilize pre-recorded tapes.
