An album released in 1987 by German pianist Herbert Henck, known for his performances of John Cage’s works such as Music of Changes and Empty Words, as well as pieces by Karlheinz Stockhausen, and who has also released recordings on ECM. Issued on the Frankfurt-based label of Michael Frauenlob Bauer, who left behind outstanding contemporary music works including those of Morton Feldman and György Ligeti. As the title suggests, this is the third installment in a series themed around improvisation, featuring imaginative solo piano performances that unfold over more than 23 minutes per side. Side A consists of sections including a 30-minute fade-out, while Side B includes sections with a 15-minute fade-in, creating a fascinating interplay between fortissimo and pianissimo.
