Released in 1967, this album comes from American flutist Herbie Mann, who from the mid-1940s collaborated with countless artists and groups while also leaving behind a large number of masterpieces under his own name. Known for incorporating diverse styles such as Latin, Brazilian, reggae, and disco into his jazz explorations, Mann here turns his attention to the music of the Middle East, particularly Turkey. Alongside original scores of his own, he performs arrangements of traditional Turkish and Jewish music, delivering them with a richly oriental atmosphere. An excellent record, this is the original U.S. mono pressing.
