An album compiling two 10-inch records recorded by Horace Silver in 1954 and 1955 with Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, and Art Blakey. Featuring “The Preacher,” a track that already hints at the roots of the funky jazz movement that would later flourish, the album is filled with the energy and excitement of 1950s Blue Note. Built on a strong blues feeling while maintaining a light, swinging touch, it captures a fresh, vivid atmosphere just before the formation of the Jazz Messengers. 1973 US reissue with black “b” labels. Comes with the original insert.
